cdk8s is a software development framework for defining Kubernetes applications and reusable abstractions using familiar programming languages and rich object-oriented APIs. It aims to simplify the authoring experience of Kubernetes manifests by leveraging standard coding practices such as composition, inheritence, unit testing, and more.
In this session, we’ll hear about how and why cdk8s came to be, walk through the various components of the framework, and see what you can build with it.

Eli is a Senior Software Development Engineer leading the CDK For Kubernetes (cdk8s) project. He is passionate about identifying areas of complexity and coming up with ways to simplify them, especially in the developer tooling domain. Eli lives in Tel-Aviv, Israel and in his spare time enjoys learning history and messing around with his dog, git.
Whitney is a lovable goofball who enjoys understanding and using tools in the cloud native landscape. Creative and driven, Whitney recently pivoted from an art-related career to one in tech. She is a CNCF Ambassador and active in the open source community. You can catch her lightboard streaming show ⚡️ Enlightning on Tanzu.TV. And not only does she rock at tech - she literally has toured playing in the band Mutual Benefit on keyboards and vocals.
